Horsehair – a very traditional filling. The furniture will have a hard solid look to it. Squeeze the arm or back and a slight crunching noise will be heard.
Coir – course fibre filling extracted from the outer shell of a coconut. Again, a crunching sound will be heard when squeezed.
Coil springs – typically found in the seat area but can also be incorporated into the arms and the back.
