Club Style Sofas & Chairs
The club style chair and sofa are one of the most popular styles of living room furniture. Chances are you have sat in a club chair at one time or another. The club is commonly found in many public places including hotels, libraries and even airport lounges.
A club chair is described as a chair with a low back and arms, which is traditionally upholstered in leather, however fabric is now regularly used. Club chairs can come with or without a matching ottoman.
The name, ‘Club Chair’, originates from gentlemen's clubs in nineteenth century England, where it was the chair of choice for the men to relax with a drink and perhaps a cigar. Many Victorian leather club chairs were button-backed, companion pieces to Chesterfield sofas (also a nineteenth century design).
Club style furniture is an old style that has kept its traditions but there are now many modern variations, which include variations, include swivel and reclining designs. No matter what the variation, all club chairs have one thing in common: they are built for comfort, with the design fitting the feeling instead of the other way around.
