Plumbs certification

All reupholsters and loose cover makers employed by Plumbs have to meet the very highest levels to become Plumbs certified. Through our certification scheme we ensure that your furniture will be in safe hands with only the very best reupholsters restoring it.

The two levels of certification are “Approved” and “Certified”.

Approved status applies to those reupholsterers that have traditionally worked for us before the certification scheme was introduced and all have an excellent record of product quality, service and delivery.

A reupholsterer becomes Certified after showing products and services to a Plumbs standard and this is reassessed a minimum of every two years. All reupholsters assessments are based on samples and portfolios.

Workmanship standards are published and issued to all suppliers and assesments are judged against these standards. Our standards ensure the high level of quality expected from a Plumbs product is produced.

When assessing reupholsterers, our criteria include:

• Having the required machinery
• Having the appropriate skills and experience
• The quality of workmanship shown through both portfolio and samples
• Presentability of staff to the customer
• Availability of transport and how clean it is to avoid contamination of furniture
• To have a customer focus ensuring delivery within the time period and keeping in contact with the customer
• Organisational and housekeeping skills shown through a workshop that is maintained and products must be produced in an environment where cloth and work in progress is not subject to any contamination.

As well as assessment criteria we also have a thorough set of quality standards which are monitored and ensure that all furniture is produced to ensure your complete satisfaction.
