Step 1 – Another great piece rescued from the auction room. £90 bought this beautiful old telephone table.
Step 2 – What really caught our eye was the studding detail. Next step was to take this piece into the workroom. Time for a new lease of life.
Step 3 – You have to be cruel to be kind. After stripping back to the frame, the old foam inners look about ready for replacement.
Step 4 – The first task for the re-upholsterer was to replace the seat webbing to create a strong foundation.
Step 5 – The inside arm re-upholstery gets under way. Next step for the arm will be studding to replicate the look of the original piece.
Step 6 – One of the best features of this piece of furniture is the deep button back. The re-upholsterer needs to ensure the buttons are exactly level and even - all done by eye and experience.
Step 7 – The studding work delivers superb finish and definition. That’s a tradition dating back to when this piece was first made.
Step 8 – Finishing the outside arm, this reupholstery job is moving along nicely.
Step 9 – Studding detail on the back looks superb. A real transformation for our £90 antique shop find.
Step 10 – The end result. A real transformation which anyone can achieve. Combine an interesting family heirloom or antique shop find with a professional Plumbs re-upholstery transformation. The end result is a unique and personal piece of furniture which just might become a family heirloom.
Telephone Table
The first telephone table to be reupholstered here at Plumbs and a real testament to the wide range of skills we have in our reupholstery team. You would never guess that it was just £90 from an action room!
