Step 1 – Although the fabric on this chair is worn, the quality shines through. The frame is beautiful, and an estimate of age would be victorian.

Step 2 – The reverse of the nursing chair reveals beautiful studding detail which the reupholsterer will have to recreate.

Step 3 – First step is the removal of all the original fabric. Despite the surface scratches to the wooden frame, the rich acquired patina of the wooden frame is clear to see.

Step 4 – With all the original fabric removed.

Step 5 – With the new top cover in place and all the deep buttoning work complete, the final studding detail is completed

Step 6 – The deep buttoning process is really an art form. Each diamond shape is done by hand and by eye exactly as it was done originally. The tension of the button and fabric must be exactly right if perfect alignment of all the buttons is to be achieved.

Step 7 – All the original studding work has been faithfully restored to how the original piece was first made

Step 8 – The finished nursing chair returned to its owner. Quite stunning.
