Step 1 – With both drop arms removed and all old fabric stripped away, the frame and spring are checked and repaied. The sofa is dacron wrapped and then measured out for the central line which can be seen.
Step 2 – Work starts on the seat area with the top fabric
Step 3 – Next step is the back area matching and lining up the pattern as he works. Constant checking is needed most particularly with such a large floral design. Any mis-alignment would ruin the whole job.
Step 4 – The two drop arms are made seperately. It is important they are made together and match in both shape and stuffing density – in other words a matching pair.
Step 5 – The two drop arms are attached. Inside the newly replaced webbing and hessian is visible. The customer will never see it but she will certainly feel the difference.
Step 6 – With the drop arm in place this reupholstery order is starting to look like the finished article
Step 7 – The loose seat cushions are made seperately and is a zipped cover, exactly as the original was made. Plumbs also provide replacement seat cushions free of charge. The end result really will be as good as new.
Step 8 – This photo shows the wooden tassle rope holders back in place and the top fabric being finished on the back of the sofa.
Step 9 – The final step is to add the cushions, complete a thorough quality check and then prepare the protective covering for return to the customer
Step 10 – Delivery back to the customer
Step 11 – Not forgetting the matching dining chair and pouffe
Step 12 – Close up of the drop arm.
Step 13 – The finished article
Step 14 – Was this customer happy. In fact delighted; so much so that she agreed to be a model on our website.
Rope Wing Floral Sofa
With twin drop arms this sofa is fairly unusual. The drop arms are held up with quite ornate wooden carved rope holders. To complete the order there was a matching Louis XV style dining chair and large footstool. This was an enjoyable task for the re-upholsterer and the end result was superb with a very happy customer who agreed to be a model for our website!
